New England Tree & Landscape Inc

Commercial & Residential Properties

At New England Tree & Landscape, great outdoor spaces start with great landscape design, and we handle everything that comes after.

Serving Mattapoisett from our nearby Fairhaven location, we specialize in transforming new construction sites and existing properties throughout this coastal village. Known for its charming harbor, historic shipbuilding heritage, and scenic waterfront, Mattapoisett attracts homeowners who value quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. Whether your property overlooks Buzzards Bay, you're renovating a classic Cape near the village center, or building new near Ned's Point Light house, our landscape design creates the blueprint that guides every phase of your project.

From homes along Aucoot Road and Point Road to properties near The Bay Club and Mattapoisett Golf Club, we transform lots with nothing but sand and fill into thriving coastal landscapes. Route 6 corridor properties and village center businesses also benefit from our commercial landscaping expertise.

Here's how it works: We design your complete outdoor space, then execute it. That means excavation when needed, grading for proper drainage, adding quality loam, installing hardscaping (such as patios, walkways, and stone walls), establishing lawns (through hydroseeding, seeding, or sod installation), selecting and planting trees and shrubs, and finishing with fresh mulch.

After installation, our lawn care and ongoing landscape maintenance keep your property healthy and beautiful year-round. And when snow hits Mattapoisett, our snow removal services protect your investment and keep your property accessible.

One local team. One cohesive landscape design. Complete landscaping services from excavation to maintenance, serving Mattapoisett residential and commercial properties for over 35 years.

ABOUT OUR SERVICES

Real landscape design is not just picking plants and spreading mulch. It is engineering. When we design a property in Fairhaven, Mattapoisett, or Rochester, we start by evaluating the site conditions: slope, soil type, drainage patterns, and sun exposure. Drainage is addressed first because poor water management undermines everything else.

Our landscape design plans account for your goals, your budget, and how the finished property should function and look. For new construction, we create complete designs from the ground up. For existing properties, we design around what is already in place. Every plan serves as a clear blueprint covering grading, drainage, hardscaping, irrigation, plant placement, and lawn installation.

Erosion control and drainage planning is where many projects fail. When slopes are not designed correctly, homeowners experience washouts after the first heavy rain. This is especially common on coastal and hillside properties throughout the South Coast. We design grades properly, install drainage systems where needed, and direct water away from structures so it goes where it should.

Once the design is finalized, we handle the full installation and construction process that turns plans into a finished landscape. This is the physical work that reshapes properties and makes them usable long-term. We also provide ongoing landscape maintenance to keep properties functional and maintained year after year.

Brush clearing and site preparation come first. Overgrown brush, invasive vegetation, and unwanted growth are cleared and removed to open up the site. All debris is hauled away so the property is clean and ready for construction.

Grading and loaming establish the foundation for everything that follows. We bring in quality loam, grade the property to match the design, and address drainage before permanent features are installed. Many new construction sites in Fairhaven, Marion, and surrounding South Coast communities require significant grading because land is rarely left ready for landscaping.

Hardscaping follows once grades are set. Patios, walkways, retaining walls, and granite steps are built with proper base preparation, so they remain stable through freeze-thaw cycles. We install pavers, natural stone, and granite based on site conditions, use, and budget. Commercial properties along Route 6 in New Bedford and Dartmouth often require hardscaping designed for heavier traffic, while residential projects prioritize durability and appearance.

Plant selection and installation are based on real site conditions. Sun exposure, soil type, drainage, water access, and maintenance expectations all determine what is planted and where. We install plant material that survives local conditions instead of failing after one season.

Mulching is completed after planting. Fresh mulch protects roots, regulates moisture, suppresses weeds, and gives beds a finished appearance. Old mulch is removed, when necessary, beds are edged properly, and new mulch is installed at the correct depth.

Lawn installation comes near the end of the project. Once irrigation, planting, and bed work are complete, grass is installed around everything else. Properties may be finished with traditional seeding, hydroseeding, or sod installation depending on timeline, budget, and site conditions.

Landscape lighting extends usability and improves safety. We install low-voltage LED systems to illuminate walkways, steps, and outdoor living areas without excessive energy use.

Ongoing landscaping maintenance keeps properties functional long-term. This includes spring and fall cleanups, storm debris removal, bed edging, pruning, mulch refreshes, tree and shrub care, and mosquito control along property perimeters and wooded edges.

Lawns require consistent care or they deteriorate quickly. We provide lawn care services for residential and commercial properties throughout Fairhaven, Mattapoisett, and surrounding South Coast communities.

Lawn mowing and maintenance includes mowing, edging, trimming, and clearing hard surfaces. Grass is cut at proper heights to promote healthy growth. Cutting too short stresses turf, while letting it grow too long encourages weeds and disease. Reliable service means showing up on schedule, not when it is convenient.

Lawn fertilization and pH adjustment support thick, healthy turf. Nutrients are applied at the right times, and lime is used when necessary to correct acidic soil conditions that prevent grass from absorbing fertilizer properly.

Lawn aeration and overseeding relieve soil compaction and improve turf density. Core aeration increases air, water, and nutrient movement. Overseeding fills thin areas, while slice seeding and dethatching are used when compaction or thatch buildup is severe.

Lawn weed control prevents and eliminates weeds throughout the season. Pre-emergent treatments stop weeds before they germinate. Post-emergent treatments control existing weeds using targeted applications instead of blanket spraying.

Lawn pest control addresses grubs, chinch bugs, and other turf-damaging insects. Goose deterrent applications are used to keep geese off lawns before turf is destroyed. Preventative treatments protect lawns from damage that would otherwise require full replacement.

Lawn disease treatment addresses issues such as brown patch, dollar spot, and snow mold. Turf diseases are diagnosed early and treated with targeted fungicides to stop spread and restore lawn health before major damage occurs.

Commercial properties in Fairhaven, New Bedford, and across the South Coast need dependable snow removal during winter storms. We plow during storms to keep parking lots accessible and reduce hazardous conditions, not hours after snowfall ends.

Snow plowing clears parking lots and access roads so businesses remain open. Snow shoveling and snow blowing maintain walkways, stairs, and entrances to keep properties safe and usable.

De-icing and salting reduce ice buildup on parking lots, roads, walkways, and entrances. Ice control materials improve traction, prevent refreezing, and reduce liability. A plowed lot with ice is still a safety risk. De-icing completes the job.
